Energy Conservation
Student Driven Initiatives:
#1 - Power Down Friday
Green School Club students decided they needed to take action to help reduce the amount of wasted energy consumption at the school. Students noticed that computers and TVs were being left on after school. Students took action by meeting after school on Friday's to go around to the classrooms and power down computers and turn off any left on TVs, VCRs, speakers, projectors, etc. Students created a sign up genius to organize who would be involved each Friday afternoon.

#2 - Energy Conservation awareness
Students in Alternative Life Skills Work Study class, researched ways to reduce the amount of energy wasted in the building. They also created signs to illustrate ways students and teachers could reduce their amount of wasted energy being used in the classroom. Signs were displayed around the school and in classrooms as a constant reminder to power down. The students are also in the process of creating a video showing them powering down appliances for the morning announcements to encourage people to not waste energy on phantom appliances, not only at school but at home as well.
