#3 - Students clean-up our local watershed
Students volunteered out of school and on the weekend to clean up the Patuxent River watershed. In April, 2018 a student (Josh K.) volunteered at the Patuxent Environmental Area and stated "This place was like a second home to me, and to clean it up was the least I could do." In the Fall of 2018, Inayat J. lead a group of younger students to clean out local storm drains, removing leaf liter and debris. When asked about her project, Inayat stated "This will help to prevent blocked drains and the resulting flooding while educating the kids on the importance of proper stormwater management." Additionally, the Centennial Fishing Club also cleaned up trash around Centennial Lake. Club members led by William Q. met at 8:00am on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the west gate parking area off Centennial Lane. They spent 2 hours walking the perimeter of the lake and removing litter.
